Messiah Lutheran Church, Knoxville TN

Worship and Music

Music Ministries

Music is such a vital part of our life here at Messiah. We are fortunate to have a diverse and talented group of musicians of all ages who lead in worship and other activities throughout the year. Singing the liturgy is a primary focus of all of our worship. Strong hymn singing by the entire congregation is accompanied by a wonderful Andover pipe organ, experienced choirs and many instrumentalists and vocalists. Messiah has a long history of good music and musicians.

We invite everyone to join in the song of the assembly using whatever talents God has graced them with. We come together to "sing a joyful song to the Lord!"

Sundays at Messiah

At Messiah our form of worship is known as "liturgical," meaning literally "a work of the people." Thus, in worship, you will witness the assembly standing, sitting, kneeling, and responding (through words, songs, and silence.) In other words, for Lutheran Christians, worship is not passive, but very much an act - a work in which we all participate.

Of course, worship is much more than what can be explained here. So, we invite you to come and see. Come join our assembly as we seek to worship God as he meets us in word and sacrament, in silence and song, in good news announced and in peace shared.
